Our Mission
Secret Sub Rosa Events is a voluntary community project and live events company founded by a group of music enthusiasts, producers and artists in the North of England. Our mission is to provide a platform for local music and multimedia artists, performers, technical and production people, and anyone who has a passion for music, art or creativity working collaboratively to produce a very special show – like no other!
Spanning the last 25 years the organisation has compiled a diverse and talented pool of members, by working collaboratively with people from a wide spectrum across the electronic, underground dance music scene and live events industry. As well as a history of many successful events, art commissions, film productions and radio programs, our specialisation lies in the visualisation and production of festival stage show concepts. We design and custom-build decor and lighting sets, performer costumes and create rich immersive and interactive storylines based on exciting, original and innovative concepts.
Ecologically aware and supporters of sustainable change, the team recycle, up-cycle and use low carbon impact materials and methods wherever possible. Our fabrication work includes everything from stage fronts, venue entrances, lighting installations and projection surfaces, to fully immersive environments. From initial concepts to completed productions Secret Sub Rosa Events boast an unparalleled and unique experience from our base around the North East Coast of England.
The real magic behind the scenes is all projects are produced on a voluntary and complete profit funded basis. We create a professional standard product solely by the input of dedicated and passionate Subrosians. A real phenomenon to be proud of!
We have been extremely active in community development initiatives, in June 2024 becoming a Community Interest Company (CIC) with the aim of expanding functions via linking in with cultural, ability and social diversity groups and charities.
Our mission includes hosting events, co-hosted productions and workshops to promote enrichment of community, self expression and diversity in society. We also plan to continue building on our foundations for supporting student education and the development from amateur-to-professional status of artistes.
Participation in our workshops, activities and events is open to a wide range of individuals within the communities we serve, and we are dedicated to being inclusive and supportive, for example: neuro-diverse (ND) individuals, sufferers of Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis, ADHD and people with mild to moderate physical impairments. We actively collaborate with other community groups, organisations and local councils. We use and extend our support to local businesses, suppliers, venues and events through our patronage wherever possible.
One of the main objectives for 2024-25 is to raise funds via our CIC, productions and events to find and open premises in the locality of Scarborough to help achieve our aims.
All profits are invested into the organisation and will always be, for the lifetime of the company.
Personal Statement
“A Sub Rosa production, for both crew and revellers, is an experience of pure escape from the daily grind. We provide a vivid and memorable trip; a wondrous, magical adventure packed with surprises, reinvention, and innovation in music, art and performance. The opportunity for self expression within the spaces we create is at our very core. And yet we are bound by a universal and instinctive truth; that tribal ceremonies have been practiced for thousands of years. The gathering of people to rediscover lost connections, dance, laugh and to love is our mission; a genuine quest to recreate the warmth and humanity of kindred spirits.”
Jaime Ruff – Secret Sub Rosa CIC Director and Sub Commander.
